You take the step, we walk with you

At Calma de Mar, we see you and understand you with a non-judgemental gaze, from a holistic perspective, knowing that at every stage of life you may need support.

For us, life is therapy in itself, where there are moments when you may need a nudge. That’s where we come in, to accompany you in navigating it more effectively.

Or as we like to call it:

having a psychologist as a reference.

You can always turn to us at different times; we’ll be a satellite in your life for whenever you need it.

That’s why we want to offer you all possible support perspectives and collaborate with professionals prepared to give you tools and help you grow.

What therapy can you find at Calma de Mar?

Individual Psychotherapy for Adults

Individual Therapy

Humans have a natural tendency to develop, yet sometimes it’s not easy for us or we don’t have the necessary tools. In adult therapy, therapist and client jointly identify those conflicts, practice different ways to address them to activate that natural potential, and return to your center.

We offer therapy in English, Catalan, French, and Spanish.

Individual Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy

Child Therapy

Support for your children where we’ll address their difficulties in understanding and expressing their emotions, stress management, conflict resolution, and anything else they may need. We’ll do this through different therapeutic tools, accompanying families as a basic axis to improve the well-being of childhood. Additionally, we offer clinical psychodiagnosis and psychopedagogical re-education to address school difficulties.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescence doesn’t necessarily have to be tumultuous, yet often it is, being very draining for both adolescents and their families. Sometimes there’s an explicit difficulty (communication problems, addictions, personal relationships, etc.) and other times it’s a structural aspect of the stage itself. In this process (which combines sessions with adolescents, sessions with parents, and sometimes joint sessions), we accompany you to make this stage constructive.

Encounter Groups

We know that accompanying each other in tribes is necessary as human beings. That’s why we’ve created groups where we gather every two weeks in person and/or online, in small groups.

Men’s Circle

Noteworthy changes are taking place in gender matters in today’s society. Despite this, these changes are not reaching the male world or are arriving in an inadequate way. That’s why we’re going to deconstruct traditional gender patterns and create the new and diverse masculinities that are asking to be expressed. Here you can meet with other men to discuss your concerns and aspirations.

Group for Mothers and Fathers

The space to share with empathy, sincerity, and humor the everyday situations that generate concern (aggression, screens, fear of change, poor responses, etc.). From respectful parenting, where we look with the same dignity at the child and the mothers and fathers, we’ll share a human space where we can help each other transform the ideal motherhood into conscious and real motherhood.

Expats Circle

Migrating to another country is a complex process that involves a great emotional rollercoaster: guilt/relief, anxiety/tranquility, fears/courage, loneliness,… Feeling caught between two worlds, with an emotional backpack that sometimes was already full from home but now becomes even more difficult to carry. We’ll work on the notions of belonging and detachment that arise from living away from our homeland, addressing the process of migration grief and associated losses. We’ll explore the seven aspects of migration grief: loss of family, language, land, culture, social status, belonging group, and physical risks. And together we’ll create that sense of tribe, of a group that understands how I feel, which may be missing.

Grief Support Circle

Experiencing the loss of a loved one is tough enough to also live it in solitude. Here we understand that the grieving process is neither an illness nor depression, but rather a response to loss that impacts all aspects of the person experiencing it. With us, you have a safe space to express your feelings, feel the support and understanding of the group, thus learning to live in absence and transition to a new reality where nothing is the same, not even your own identity.

Expressive and Conscious Movement Groups

The body is everything, and we live completely disconnected from it. All our internal conflicts from the past and present are recorded in it. They are recorded in the form of tensions and blockages that need to be released. Here we’ll bring awareness to the body, exploring the relationship between motion and emotion, while feeling in a sustained and safe network.

Art Therapy Circles

Self-care is in vogue, which is why we need spaces to connect with our own needs, discovering what self-care means for ourselves. Through bodily practices and art in different disciplines, we’ll give space to self-esteem and self-care to continue creating a solid and compassionate relationship with oneself. (PROPOSE THIS COMPLETE CHANGE:) Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses artistic expressions to help individuals explore and process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Through mediums such as painting, drawing, or music, individuals can delve into their inner world in a non-verbal way, allowing them to address difficult issues more meaningfully. Guided by a specialized therapist, participants find a safe space to explore and experiment without fear of judgment, which helps them work on emotional issues and seek personal growth and meaning in their lives.

Psychoeducational Workshops on Various Topics

Various professionals will share topics that frequently arise in therapy. We’re open to proposals. If you feel you want to learn more about any topic that concerns you, write to us.

Study Techniques Courses and Psychopedagogical Re-Education Groups

Both in group and individual format, we offer the opportunity to analyze your child’s learning style and discover their strengths. In addition to this, they’ll be provided with personalized strategies to improve memory, concentration, and long-term information retention. This will transform individual study sessions into dynamic spaces where they can enjoy the learning process effectively.

Adolescent Circle

This is the space for your teenager. A support group where they can feel heard and sustained, among people who speak their language, and where they can explore everything that worries them in a fun way through the use of different artistic languages like music, painting,… and new learning about emotional intelligence and resources for socialization.

Supervision for Psychologists

Group Supervision (online)

The two founders of Calma de Mar offer supervision to psychologists to guide and support them in their psychotherapeutic accompaniment. Our methodology combines different approaches such as transactional analysis, humanistic approach, person-centered therapy, constructivism, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and trauma work (sensorimotor, EMDR, and brainspotting), offering an integrative perspective.

Sessions are held in a group rather than individually because we consider our profession to be very solitary, and among all of us, we can nurture and provide more perspectives than individually. Our goal is for you to feel recognized and supported, to experience that feeling of compassionate and empowering tribe that you deserve.

What benefits can you get from the supervision sessions we conduct at Calma de Mar?
  • Acquire tools, techniques, and approaches in integrative psychotherapy.
  • Explore areas of therapeutic intervention considering relational dynamics, communication and emotional management, as well as attachment and trauma.
  • Establish a professional network and obtain support from the group.
  • Learn from the cases of other colleagues, seeing other perspectives that we sometimes find difficult to see individually.
  • Manage your own insecurities, emotions that may arise, countertransference, blocks,…

We’re on the other side so you can discover if there’s an Island at Calma de Mar where you can take refuge.
